Jia-Hou (JH) is a Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Sleep and Cognition, National University of Singapore. He is a cognitive neuroscientist specializing in the neural mechanisms of human learning and memory. He completed his PhD in Neuroscience at NUS & Duke-NUS with the Integrative Sciences and Engineering program studying the impact of sleep deprivation on information processing. Following his PhD, he did his Postdoctoral training at Duke University, Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and was a Senior Associate at the Duke Dept of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. A key focus of his current research is investigating how intrinsic factors like motivation and curiosity influence memory formation.

When he’s not learning about how the brain learns, he also enjoys brewing coffee and motivating his dogtoral-fellow, Melo during walks.
